Tusmore Park (Part 2), The Seat of Lord Bicester

Rare original issue of Country Life magazine for August 6th 1938 featuring a main article on Tusmore Park in Oxfordshire (Part 2), The Seat of Lord Bicester. Tusmore was built in 1766-1779 by William Fermor from designs by Robert Mylne, at the time of this publication architects Imrie & Angell were making improvements to the property including a new formal garden and the interior included ceilings designed by Robert Adam. Tusmore was demolished in 1961 to make way for a smaller house. This issue contains a six page write up with black and white photographic illustrations of the house interior and furnishings, showing the drawing room with ceiling by Robert Adam, the Library, dining room, staircase and estate cottages built by Imrie and Angell. This magazine is in very good condition with a lovely portrait frontispiece of Miss Sheila Foster.
