Thorpe Mandeville Manor, The Seat of Lt. Col. P. L. Reid

Rare original issue of Country Life magazine dated August 20th 1938 featuring a main illustrated article on Thorpe Mandeville Manor on the Northamptonshire / Oxfordshire border, The Seat of Lt. Col. P. L. Reid. Throughout the 17th Century the manor house was owned by the Kirtons and Gostelowes. The new garden lay-out designed by Mr Oliver Hill at the time of publication features in this issue. This magazine contains a five page write up with black and white photograph illustrations also of the manor, the new garden designs, the garden house, circular steps, the tennis pavilion and interior of the house, including the Oak Parlour, the Cedar Room and the Flower Room. The magazine is in very good condition with a lovely portrait frontispiece of The Earl and Countess of mansfield in Perthshire.
