Fisherwick Hall, The Seat of John Viscount Massereen, Baron Loughneagh

A very scarce original engraved print illustrating a view of Fisherwick Hall, Lichfield in Staffordshire, The Seat of the 1st Baron Loughneagh (Viscount Massereen). The Hall was demolished about 1814. This engraving was published in 1686 for Robert Plot's volume 'The Natural History of Staffordshire'. Drawn and engraved by Michael Burghers, titled and with coat of arms above. Illustration size 25 x 30cm (with centre fold, as issued). Very good condition. Rare.

Michael Burghers (c. 1653-1727) was a Dutch line engraver, born in Amsterdam and lived in Oxford, England from 1673. He was commissioned by the aristocracy to create estate plans, illustrations of country houses and maps.
