An original war-time issue of Country Life magazine dated August 3rd 1940 featuring a main article on Belle Isle (Part-1), A residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Chance. A unique circular house on an island in Windermere, built in 1774 for a Mr. English from designs by John Plaw.  Four page write up containing black and white illustrations of Belle Isle Lodge and surroundings. This issue is in good condition with a portrait frontispiece of Air Marshal Sir Arthur Murray Longmore, K.C.B., D.S.O.
