Lindisfarne Castle, A Residence of Mr. Edward Hudson
Original issue of Country Life magazine dated June 7th 1913 featuring a main article on Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island, Berwick upon Tweed in Northumberland. A residence of Mr. Edward Hudson (publisher and owner of Country Life magazine). Mr Hudson purchased the castle in 1901 and employed Edwin Lutyens to alter and restore the castle with Gertrude Jekyll to design the walled garden between 1906 and 1912. This issue contains a thirteen page write up on the history of the castle with black and white photograph illustrations of the castle, (exterior, interior and grounds). This issue is in good condition with a portrait frontispiece of Lady Gweneth Ponsonby.
