Landfall (Open House in a Wood), Poole, Designed by Oliver Hill
An original issue of Country Life magazine dated February 25th 1939 featuring Landfall in Dorset, titled 'Open House in a Wood on Poole Harbour, Dorset. Designed by Oliver Hill'. The issue contains a three page write up on the modernist house, (one of the finest of the modern movement in the UK). Built for the film maker Dudley Shaw Ashton in 1938-39 with many black and white photograph illustrations of the exterior and sun terrace, the interior, furnishings, and decor including rugs by Marion Dorn and plans of the ground floor, first floor and sun room on the roof. Also containing details of the cost of build and principal contractors. The magazine is in very good condition with a lovely portrait frontispiece of Miss Denise Godefroi. Rare.
